• What’s the difference between Climate Positive Gifts and Tree Gifts?

  While all gifts plant trees, our Climate Positive Gifts also include supporting climate projects to reduce CO₂ by an average carbon footprint. Read below for more detailed explanations of each gift set.

  Climate Positive Gifts

  To create our Climate Positive gifts we combine tree planting and carbon offsetting (we’ve mirrored the benefits from our Helper subscription plan). Your gift will plant 12 trees per month (for 3, 6 or 12 months depending on the gift) in Nicaragua, Mozambique and Madagascar, while also reducing atmospheric carbon by one average footprint through supporting climate projects like rainforest protection in the Amazon to clean drinking water in Haiti. After purchasing the gift you’ll receive a gift certificate via email to send to/print out for your recipient. From the details on their gift certificate your recipient will then be able to access their personal online Ecologi profile, where they’ll be able to track their impact via supported projects and watch their forest grow digitally and find out all about the trees and projects.

  Tree planting gifts

  With our tree planting gifts, that’s exactly what you get! a whole lot of trees! Your gifted trees will be planted in Nicaragua, Mozambique and Madagascar by our trusted partner Eden Reforestation Projects. After purchasing the gift you’ll receive a gift certificate via email to send on to your recipient. From the details on their gift certificate your recipient will then be able to access their personal online Ecologi profile - where they’ll be able to watch their forest grow digitally and find out more about the trees.

• What’s included with the gifts?

  We have two gift types: 1.Tree planting gifts and 2.Climate Positive gifts (tree planting & carbon footprint removal), but there are features and benefits that are universal across both gift sets.

  • All gifts support tree planting in Nicaragua, Mozambique and Madagascar (planting carried out by our trusted partner Eden Reforestation Projects)
  • Each gift includes an Ecologi profile to keep track of gifted impact (including a personal digital forest to watch trees progress)
  • Tips and ideas on how to live a more sustainable lifestyle
  • A printable gift certificate with all details on how to redeem the gift

• Does the giftee get their own Ecologi profile?

  Yes! Once you’ve printed out and sent or emailed your gift certificate to your recipient they can redeem their gift. They’ll receive their own personal Ecologi profile and from there, they can track their climate impact, watch their forest grow (finding out more about the trees they’ve planted) and learn about the interesting climate projects they’ll be supporting that month.

• Do you provide a gift certificate?

  Yes, for every purchase we will send you a receipt email with printable PDF gift certificate(s) attached. Each certificate will represent a single gift allowing you to print/forward your gift to your lucky recipient.

  The gift certificate will contain a unique code along with instructions on how to redeem the gift.

• What are staff gifts and how do they work?

  We offer all the same gift options for company gifting, however because we generate PDF gift certificates for every gift, we are limited to attaching 50 certificates to a single email. If you’re looking for staff gifts and your company is over 50 people then please get in touch with our team at sales@ecologi.com, and we’d be more than happy to help fulfil your order.

• What happens once the 3, 6 or 12 month Climate Positive gift has expired?

  Once the gift has expired (3, 6, or 12 months after redemption) the giftee’s Ecologi profile will stay active but they will not be charged.

  We will offer an option to continue to subscribe monthly or they are welcome to keep the profile as an ‘impact only account’ so they can manually add trees if they choose.

• What happens if a gift is never redeemed?

  Our gifts remain redeemable up to one year after purchase. After that time we purchase the relevant impact on your behalf.

• Why can’t I order more than 50 gifts at one time?

  We generate PDF gift certificates for every gift, and we are limited to attaching 50 certificates to a single email. If you’re looking for over 50 gifts then please get in touch with our team at sales@ecologi.com, and we’d be more than happy to help fulfil your order.

• How is a carbon footprint offset?

  Each month Ecologi supports two carbon offset projects to help our subscribers (and giftees) reduce their carbon footprints. We support a range of projects from protecting biodiversity to more humanitarian focused initiatives. Here’s a collection of projects we’ve recently supported:

• Where are the trees planted?

  We are currently reforesting in Nicaragua, Mozambique and Madagascar. Read on to find out a little information about each planting location.

  Firstly we plant mangroves in Madagascar. More than 90% of Madagascar's original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species and taking away the ability of the local people to farm and live on the land. Mangroves provide nurseries for fish, feeding grounds for migratory birds, defence against storm surges and floodwaters and natural water filtration systems. They also store massive amounts of carbon, as much as five times more than tropical forests!

  The second project is reforestation in Mozambique which involves planting 1 million dry deciduous trees near the village of Changalane. This will help to support the local people, employing 45 full-time people from the local village. We hope to bring back a thriving ecosystem and prevent further deforestation by alleviating poverty and creating a long-term maintenance plan.

  Then last but not least we support a reforestation project in the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve in Nicaragua. Here we will be reforesting 535 hectares of land with a broad variety of native trees such as Acacia, Mahogany and Rain trees. This area is renowned for its biodiversity, and its numerous rare or endangered species.

• Who plants the trees?

  We are partnered with the incredible Eden Reforestation Projects who have planted over 400 million trees across 174 project sites. Eden’s mission reduces extreme poverty and restores healthy forests by employing local villagers to plant millions of trees every year.

• What is the survival rate of the trees?

  The initial survival rate at our mangrove restoration projects exceeds 80%. However, between years three and five the young mangrove trees begin to produce their own propagules (baby mangrove trees) resulting in a proliferation of natural regeneration. Multiple studies demonstrate the initial survival rate combined with natural regeneration results in a luxuriant impact ranging between 150 and 500 percent.
